Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fisetin is a naturally occurring plant flavonol from the flavonoid group of polyphenols. It is found in various fruits and vegetables such as strawberries, apples, persimmons, onions, and cucumbers[2][6]. Fisetin acts as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent and has been studied for its potential roles as a DNA topoisomerase inhibitor and geroprotector[1][4]. Laboratory research suggests it may have neuroprotective properties and possible senolytic activity (removal of senescent cells), with some studies indicating it is more potent than quercetin in this regard[5]. However, there is no clinical evidence supporting health benefits in humans as of 2018[2].
