Fixcom 3

Fixcom 3 is an approved, prescription-only fixed-dose combination (FDC) anti-tuberculosis drug developed and distributed by Natrapharm in the Philippines. It is formulated as an oral tablet containing three active ingredients: rifampicin (150 mg), isoniazid (75 mg), and ethambutol hydrochloride (275 mg). Fixcom 3 is indicated for the maintenance (continuation) phase of treatment for both pulmonary and extrapulmonary tuberculosis. The drug works through the synergistic actions of its components: rifampicin inhibits bacterial DNA-directed RNA polymerase, isoniazid inhibits enoyl-[acyl-carrier-protein] reductase (InhA) to disrupt mycolic acid synthesis, and ethambutol inhibits arabinosyltransferases (EmbA, EmbB, EmbC) to block cell wall arabinogalactan synthesis. This multi-target approach effectively eliminates Mycobacterium tuberculosis and prevents the development of drug resistance.
