FK-224 is a cyclopeptide tachykinin receptor antagonist with dual activity at neurokinin 1 receptor (NK1R) and neurokinin 2 receptor (NK2R). It was initially developed by Astellas Pharma as a potential treatment for conditions involving neurogenic airway inflammation, such as asthma. FK-224 inhibits bronchoconstriction induced by hyperpnea in animal models and reduces tracheal plasma extravasation caused by substance P and neurokinin A. The drug has been shown to decrease lung resistance and reduce eosinophil counts in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid after hyperpnea challenge in sensitized guinea pigs[1][2][4]. Its development status is discontinued globally[1].
