FlaB-Vax is an experimental cancer vaccine that utilizes a tumor-specific peptide antigen formulated with the adjuvant flagellin B (FlaB), a Toll-like receptor 5 (TLR5) agonist. The vaccine is designed to enhance antitumor immune responses by stimulating both innate and adaptive immunity. In preclinical studies, particularly in mouse models of melanoma, peritumoral administration of FlaB-Vax has been shown to increase infiltration and activation of effector memory CD8+ T cells and promote systemic interferon-gamma secretion. When combined with photodynamic therapy (PDT) and PD-1 checkpoint blockade, FlaB-Vax further enhances tumor antigen cross-presentation by dendritic cells, leading to improved local and systemic tumor control[1][4]. The approach aims to potentiate the efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors in cancer treatment.
