Overview

FLAMOD is a GMP-grade recombinant flagellin that functions as a Toll-like receptor 5 (TLR5) agonist. Developed by the Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale (INSERM) in France, it is designed for administration via aerosol to stimulate the innate immune system within the respiratory tract. By activating TLR5 on lung epithelial cells and dendritic cells, FLAMOD triggers a transient inflammatory response characterized by cytokine production and neutrophil recruitment, which aims to enhance the host's defense against bacterial and viral pathogens. It is primarily being investigated for the prevention and treatment of respiratory infections, including pneumonia, particularly in immunocompromised or high-risk populations.
