Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FLAVOMEGA is a nutraceutical combination supplement composed of flavonoids and omega-3 fatty acids, specifically designed as an adjuvant therapy for muscular dystrophies including Duchenne (DMD), Facioscapulohumeral (FSHD), and Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy (LGMD). Developed by Ystem Srl and UGA Nutraceuticals Srl, the formulation includes curcumin (complexed with phospholipids), baicalin (from Scutellaria baicalensis), green tea catechins, coenzyme Q10, acetyl L-carnitine, ascorbic acid, and omega-3 fatty acids (DHA and EPA). The supplement aims to exert anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects to mitigate muscle inflammation, oxidative stress, and fibrotic substitution of degenerated fibers. Clinical studies have indicated that FLAVOMEGA is well-tolerated and may improve muscle performance (measured by 6-minute walk distance and dynamometer strength) and reduce serum creatine kinase levels in certain dystrophic populations.
