Overview
Flavored dachengqi decoction is a modified Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formula based on the classic Da Cheng Qi Tang. Developed and utilized by the Linping Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine in Hangzhou, China, it is primarily indicated for the management of colorectal polyps, particularly for preventing recurrence following endoscopic resection. The formula typically consists of a base of Rhubarb (*Rheum palmatum*), Magnolia bark (*Magnolia officinalis*), Immature Bitter Orange (*Citrus aurantium*), and Mirabilite (Glauber's salt), with additional "flavoring" herbs added to clear heat, detoxify, and resolve blood stasis. Its mechanism of action involves promoting gastrointestinal motility, regulating the intestinal microenvironment, and exerting anti-inflammatory and pro-apoptotic effects on polypoid tissues by modulating cytokines such as TNF-alpha and COX-2.
