The flavoured powder is a prenatal calcium supplement delivery vehicle developed by **The Hospital for Sick Children** (SickKids) in collaboration with the **International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh**. It contains elemental calcium derived from calcium carbonate and is formulated with a suspension agent to be mixed with water and consumed with a meal. This formulation was designed to improve adherence and ease of swallowing for pregnant women, particularly those experiencing nausea, as part of an initiative to address calcium deficiency and reduce the risk of preeclampsia in low-resource settings. In clinical evaluations (NCT01676636), it was compared against traditional tablets, chewable tablets, and unflavoured powders to assess preference, acceptability, and palatability. The study found that the flavoured powder had a significantly lower probability of selection (12%) compared to traditional tablets (62%).
