Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Flavovir is a direct-acting antiviral herbal extract developed by Ecopharm for the treatment and prevention of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) in children, including newborns. Formulated as an oral syrup, the drug contains a specific complex of flavonoids that inhibit viral replication by directly blocking key enzymes, specifically viral DNA polymerase and thymidine kinase. In addition to its direct antiviral effects, Flavovir induces the synthesis of endogenous alpha- and gamma-interferons to physiologically active levels, thereby enhancing the host's innate immune response. It has demonstrated inhibitory activity against a broad spectrum of DNA and RNA viruses, including influenza and herpes viruses, and is typically administered twice daily.
