FLB-457 is a high-affinity dopamine D2 and D3 receptor antagonist that serves as a potent radiopharmaceutical for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging. Labeled with Carbon-11 ([11C]FLB-457), it is specifically utilized to visualize and quantify extra-striatal dopamine D2/D3 receptor availability in regions such as the cerebral cortex, thalamus, and hippocampus. Due to its exceptionally high binding affinity, FLB-457 is capable of detecting receptors in areas where density is too low for lower-affinity tracers like raclopride. It is widely used in clinical research to investigate dopaminergic dysfunction in neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative conditions, including schizophrenia, Alzheimer's disease, and Parkinson's disease.
