FlexHD is an acellular dermal matrix (ADM) derived from donated human allograft skin, processed to remove cellular components while preserving the structural integrity of the extracellular matrix (ECM). This biological scaffold contains essential proteins such as collagen and elastin, which facilitate host cell infiltration, revascularization, and tissue remodeling. In clinical practice, FlexHD is primarily utilized in reconstructive surgery, most notably in breast reconstruction following mastectomy for breast cancer (DOID_1612). It provides additional soft tissue support for tissue expanders or permanent implants, helping to define the inframammary fold and improve aesthetic outcomes. It is also employed in complex hernia repairs and abdominal wall reconstructions. FlexHD is developed and processed by MTF Biologics and distributed by Ethicon.
