Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Flexibzumab** is a fully humanized monoclonal antibody developed by Elastrin Therapeutics that selectively binds to degraded elastin fibers in artery walls, enabling targeted delivery of drug-loaded liposomes to sites of arterial calcification. It serves as a proprietary component of a platform technology designed to reverse vascular calcification by transporting active agents like ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) directly to damaged elastin, improving vascular function without invasive procedures. Toxicological studies have confirmed its safety profile, and it has been conjugated with doxycycline-loaded bovine serum albumin nanoparticles (Doxy NPs) to mitigate cytokine storms and inflammasome activation in lung injury models, as well as with EDTA-loaded nanoparticles (EL-EDTA-NPs) for chelation therapy in chronic kidney disease-associated calcification.[3][1][5][8]
