Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Flexilev is a branded **oral levodopa + carbidopa microtablet formulation** for symptomatic treatment of idiopathic Parkinson's disease. It consists of **water-soluble dispersible minitablets containing levodopa 5 mg and carbidopa 1.25 mg** in a 4:1 ratio, designed for **individualized, frequent, small-increment dosing** to help smooth levodopa plasma exposure and reduce motor fluctuations in patients with advancing disease. Pharmacologically, levodopa serves as the dopamine precursor that is converted in the brain to dopamine, while carbidopa is a peripheral aromatic L-amino acid decarboxylase inhibitor that reduces peripheral levodopa conversion and improves central delivery. The product has been developed and commercialized by Navamedic following acquisition of Sensidose, and is used together with dedicated dose-dispensing devices such as OraFID or MyFID to support precision titration and adherence in Parkinson's care.
