Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Flezian Plus is a fixed-dose combination small molecule therapy distributed by Provident Pharmaceuticals for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It consists of two antihyperglycemic agents: empagliflozin and metformin. Empagliflozin is a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor that reduces renal glucose reabsorption, thereby increasing urinary glucose excretion. Metformin is a biguanide that lowers blood glucose levels by inhibiting hepatic gluconeogenesis (via mitochondrial complex I inhibition and subsequent AMPK activation), decreasing intestinal glucose absorption, and improving insulin sensitivity. This combination provides a synergistic approach to glycemic control by targeting both renal and metabolic pathways.
