FLG-1001

FLG-1001 is an investigational, gellan gum-based fluid-gel eye drop formulation developed by the University of Birmingham and licensed to Healome Therapeutics. It is designed for the treatment of dry eye disease (DED) and ocular surface disease (OSD). The fluid-gel technology utilizes a shear-responsive gellan gum vehicle that flows like a liquid during blinking or application but self-structures into a thin, clear, protective layer over the ocular surface at rest. This prolonged retention on the eye surface provides long-lasting lubrication and protection against friction-related damage. FLG-1001 is being evaluated in a Phase I/II clinical trial (the OPtiCS trial) both as a standalone protective dressing and as a carrier vehicle for allogeneic donor serum (formulated as FLG-SED1) to deliver essential nutrients and promote corneal healing.
