Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Flixocort is an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) containing fluticasone propionate, developed and manufactured by Medicair. It functions as a potent agonist of the glucocorticoid receptor (NR3C1), leading to the suppression of inflammatory genes and the activation of anti-inflammatory genes within the airway. This mechanism reduces mucosal edema, decreases inflammatory cell infiltration, and alleviates airway hyperresponsiveness. Flixocort is indicated for the maintenance treatment of asthma and the management of symptoms in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and allergic airway inflammation.
