Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Flocin is an ophthalmic topical small-molecule antibiotic eye drop developed and marketed by Jainson Biotech (India) Pvt Ltd. The active ingredient is ofloxacin at a concentration of 0.3% w/v. As a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, it is indicated for the treatment of bacterial eye infections, including conjunctivitis and keratitis. Flocin exerts its therapeutic effect by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination. This action stops bacterial multiplication, thereby clearing the infection and relieving symptoms such as redness, itching, and eye discharge.
