FloraSeal

FloraSeal is a sterile, liquid microbial sealant designed for use in surgical settings to minimize the risk of surgical site infections. Developed by Adhezion Biomedical (now part of H.B. Fuller), the product is a cyanoacrylate-based film-forming agent that utilizes OctylFlex Technology. It is applied topically to the skin after standard preoperative preparation but before the surgical incision is made. Once applied, it dries into a flexible, waterproof film that acts as a physical barrier, preventing the migration of skin flora, including MRSA, into the surgical wound. It typically remains on the skin for 5 to 7 days and is classified as a medical device rather than a pharmaceutical drug.
