Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FLORASSIST Oral Hygiene is a probiotic dietary supplement specifically formulated to support periodontal and oral health. It utilizes a combination of two clinically studied probiotic strains: *Lactobacillus reuteri* DSM 17938 and *Streptococcus salivarius* M18 (BLIS M18). These beneficial bacteria work by colonizing the oral cavity and competing with pathogenic microbes for nutrients and attachment sites on the teeth and gums. *Lactobacillus reuteri* produces reuterin, an antimicrobial compound that inhibits the growth of harmful bacteria, and helps modulate the inflammatory response in gingival tissues by reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines. BLIS M18 produces bacteriocin-like inhibitory substances (BLIS) that specifically target bacteria associated with dental plaque and tooth decay. Together, these mechanisms help maintain a healthy oral microbiome, reduce plaque buildup, and support the health of the gums and teeth.
