Overview

Florastamin (18F-AlF-P16-093) is a PSMA-targeting radiopharmaceutical developed by HTA Co., Ltd. (a subsidiary of China Isotope & Radiation Corporation) for the diagnostic imaging of prostate cancer. It consists of a small molecule ligand labeled with the positron-emitting isotope fluorine-18 (18F) that binds specifically to the Prostate-Specific Membrane Antigen (PSMA), also known as glutamate carboxypeptidase 2. PSMA is highly overexpressed on the surface of prostate cancer cells, including primary tumors and metastatic lesions. By binding to this target, Florastamin enables high-resolution Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography (PET/CT) imaging, allowing for the sensitive detection, staging, and localization of prostate cancer in patients with intermediate-to-high-risk disease or suspected recurrence. It is currently in Phase 3 clinical development in China.
