Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Florbenguane F-18 (18F-mFBG) is a small molecule radiopharmaceutical imaging agent developed by Innervate Radiopharmaceuticals (formerly Illumina Radiopharmaceuticals). It is a structural analog of 123I-mIBG designed for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging. The agent targets the norepinephrine transporter (NET), which is highly expressed in neural crest-derived tumors such as neuroblastoma, pheochromocytoma, and paraganglioma. By utilizing the F-18 isotope, it allows for higher resolution PET/CT or PET/MRI imaging and rapid same-day procedures compared to traditional SPECT imaging with 123I-mIBG. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials for the detection and localization of neuroblastoma, where it has demonstrated increased detection of lesions in bone and soft tissue compared to standard imaging.
