Overview

Neuraceq (florbetaben (18F)) is a fluorine-18 labeled diagnostic radiopharmaceutical developed by Life Molecular Imaging (acquired by Lantheus). It is a stilbene derivative that selectively binds to beta-amyloid neuritic plaques in the brain. Neuraceq is FDA-approved for Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging of the brain to estimate beta-amyloid plaque density in adult patients with cognitive impairment being evaluated for Alzheimer's disease and other causes of cognitive decline. Additionally, florbetaben (18F) is under Phase 3 clinical development (including the CArdiag and CAPRI trials) for the non-invasive detection and characterization of cardiac and extracardiac amyloid deposits in patients with light-chain (AL) and transthyretin (ATTR) cardiac amyloidosis, for which it has received FDA Fast Track and Orphan Drug designations.
