Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Florfenicol + terbinafine + mometasone** is a fixed-dose combination veterinary otic (ear) solution indicated for the treatment of acute otitis externa or acute exacerbations of recurrent otitis externa in dogs. The combination contains three pharmacological classes: - **Florfenicol** is a bacteriostatic antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, effective mainly against susceptible strains of Staphylococcus pseudintermedius. - **Terbinafine** is an allylamine antifungal agent that exerts fungicidal activity by selectively inhibiting early ergosterol synthesis, targeting mainly Malassezia pachydermatis. - **Mometasone furoate** is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid with high anti-inflammatory and anti-pruritic potency, reducing inflammation and itch. This combination is administered topically as a single-dose solution, providing therapeutic effects typically for up to 30 days per application. The product is FDA- and EMA-approved for veterinary use only. It should not be used in animals with ruptured tympanic membranes, generalized demodicosis, or hypersensitivity to any component[1][4][7][11].
