Overview
F-18 flornaptitril is an investigational diagnostic radiopharmaceutical developed for use with positron emission tomography (PET) imaging. It is designed to bind to both tau and beta-amyloid proteins in the brain—key pathological markers associated with neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease (AD) and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). The compound enables visualization of these protein aggregates in living subjects and has been tested in several hundred research participants. Its primary clinical development focus is on aiding diagnosis and monitoring of neurodegenerative conditions by enhancing PET imaging contrast where tau or beta-amyloid pathology exists. The drug was originally discovered at the University of California at Los Angeles and is being developed by CereMark Pharma[1][2][3][4][7].
