Overview

FLOX is a chemotherapy regimen used primarily in the treatment of colorectal cancer. It is a combination of three drugs: oxaliplatin, 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), and leucovorin. Oxaliplatin is a platinum-based cytotoxic agent that forms DNA adducts, leading to DNA damage. 5-Fluorouracil is an antimetabolite that interferes with DNA and RNA synthesis, primarily by inhibiting thymidylate synthase. Leucovorin, a folinic acid derivative, enhances the cytotoxic effects of 5-FU.
