Overview

This is a combination therapy consisting of floxuridine, a pyrimidine analog antimetabolite chemotherapeutic agent, and panitumumab, a fully human monoclonal antibody targeting the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). Floxuridine is metabolized to 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) and inhibits thymidylate synthase, thereby interfering with DNA synthesis and cell division. Panitumumab binds specifically to EGFR on the surface of cancer cells, blocking ligand-induced activation of the receptor and downstream signaling pathways involved in cell proliferation and survival. This combination has been investigated for use in colorectal cancer, particularly when administered as part of hepatic arterial infusion (HAI) regimens for patients with liver metastases from colorectal cancer[7][8].
