Overview

FLT3CART is an experimental chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy designed to target the Fms-like tyrosine kinase 3 (FLT3) receptor, a cell surface protein frequently overexpressed in high-risk hematologic malignancies. Developed by researchers at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania, FLT3CART is being investigated for the treatment of KMT2A-rearranged (KMT2A-R) acute leukemias, including B-acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and lineage-switch acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The therapy works by engineering a patient's T cells to express a CAR that recognizes FLT3, enabling the immune system to specifically identify and eliminate leukemic cells. Preclinical data suggests that FLT3CART demonstrates potent anti-leukemic activity and may be particularly effective when combined with menin inhibitors, such as ziftomenib, to overcome resistance and prevent disease relapse.
