Overview

Flu A2 peptide is an immunodominant epitope derived from the influenza A virus matrix protein 1 (M1), specifically residues 58-66 (sequence: GILGFVFTL). This peptide is recognized by the human immune system in the context of the HLA-A*0201 (HLA-A2) MHC class I molecule. In clinical and immunological research, it is widely utilized as a model antigen or a positive control to assess T-cell activation, expansion, and functionality in HLA-A2 positive individuals. In the context of cancer immunotherapy research, it is frequently used to pulse dendritic cells (DCs) to compare the induction of regulatory T cells (Tregs) or cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) against tumor-specific antigens like MART-1. It serves as a critical tool for understanding immune tolerance and the mechanisms of peripherally induced Tregs in patients with cancer.
