Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Flu-C is an over-the-counter (OTC) fixed-dose combination product developed and manufactured by Rameda (Tenth of Ramadan Pharmaceutical Industries & Diagnostic-Rameda) for the symptomatic relief of the common cold and influenza. Administered orally as sachets or capsules, Flu-C contains four active ingredients: paracetamol (acetaminophen), ascorbic acid (vitamin C), caffeine, and chlorphenamine maleate. Paracetamol provides analgesic and antipyretic effects by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2) in the central nervous system. Chlorphenamine maleate is a first-generation antihistamine that blocks histamine H1 receptors, reducing symptoms like runny nose, sneezing, and watery eyes. Caffeine acts as a central nervous system stimulant by antagonizing adenosine receptors, which helps counteract the sedative effects of chlorphenamine and enhances the analgesic efficacy of paracetamol. Ascorbic acid is included to support immune function and provide antioxidant defense during viral infections.
