Overview
FLU-IGIV is an anti-influenza hyperimmune intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) preparation. It consists of pooled human plasma with high titers of antibodies specific to influenza A and B viruses. The primary mechanism involves passive transfer of polyclonal antibodies that neutralize influenza virus and mediate Fc-dependent effector functions such as antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) and enhanced phagocytosis. These infused antibodies can increase hemagglutination inhibition (HAI) titers and boost functional antibody responses in patients with severe influenza infection[1][4]. FLU-IGIV is developed for adjunctive treatment in hospitalized adults with severe or complicated influenza A or B infection.
