Overview

Fluarix Quadrivalent is an inactivated, split-virion influenza virus vaccine designed for active immunization to prevent disease caused by the four strains of influenza viruses contained in the vaccine—two subtype A and two type B viruses. It is redeveloped annually to match circulating strains as recommended by public health authorities. The mechanism of action involves stimulating the immune system to produce antibodies against hemagglutinin antigens from each included strain, providing protection if exposed to those specific viruses. The product is approved for use in individuals aged 6 months and older and is administered via intramuscular injection. Developed and manufactured by GSK, it has been available since 2012[1][3][5][8].
