Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This entry refers to a collective panel of quadrivalent inactivated influenza vaccines (QIVs) used in the 'Repeat Influenza Vaccination and Immune Response in Healthcare Workers' longitudinal cohort study conducted by the University of Melbourne. The panel includes several commercially available vaccines: Fluarix Tetra (GSK), Vaxigrip Tetra and Fluquadri (Sanofi), and Afluria Quad, Flucelvax Quad, and Fluad Quad (Seqirus/CSL). These vaccines utilize different production platforms, including egg-based split-virion, mammalian cell culture-based (Flucelvax Quad), and adjuvanted surface antigen (Fluad Quad) technologies. Each vaccine is designed to protect against four seasonal influenza strains (two A and two B) by targeting the hemagglutinin (HA) surface antigens. In the context of the Melbourne study, these vaccines are administered annually to healthcare workers to investigate the long-term immunological effects of repeated vaccination and their interaction with SARS-CoV-2 immunity.
