Overview
Flubik HA is an inactivated influenza hemagglutinin (HA) vaccine developed for the prevention of seasonal influenza. It contains purified hemagglutinin antigens from influenza A and B virus strains, which are the primary targets for neutralizing antibodies. In a clinical study conducted by the medical corporation Yubari Kibounomori, Flubik HA was evaluated as part of a multi-component intervention—alongside the pneumococcal vaccine Pneumovax NP and professional oral care—to assess its impact on preventing pneumonia and reducing mortality in elderly nursing home residents. The vaccine is administered subcutaneously and works by stimulating the immune system to produce antibodies that block the viral hemagglutinin protein, thereby preventing the virus from attaching to and entering host cells in the respiratory tract.
