Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Flublok is a recombinant, egg-free influenza vaccine developed by Protein Sciences Corporation (now a subsidiary of Sanofi). It is produced using the baculovirus expression vector system (BEVS) in an insect cell line (expresSF+), which allows for the production of hemagglutinin (HA) proteins without the need for live influenza virus or chicken eggs. The vaccine contains a higher concentration of HA antigen (45 mcg per strain) compared to standard-dose vaccines. It is indicated for active immunization against seasonal influenza in adults aged 18 years and older and is available in both trivalent and quadrivalent formulations.
