Fluconazol-GRY

Fluconazol-GRY is a generic formulation of the triazole antifungal agent fluconazole, marketed by Teva (under the GRY-Pharma brand). It is primarily indicated for the treatment of various fungal infections, including invasive candidiasis, candidemia, and cryptococcal meningitis. The drug exerts its antifungal effect by inhibiting the fungal enzyme lanosterol 14-alpha demethylase, a cytochrome P450-dependent enzyme essential for the biosynthesis of ergosterol, a key component of the fungal cell membrane. This inhibition leads to increased membrane permeability and fungal cell death. In the context of drug development by Scynexis Inc., Fluconazol-GRY has been utilized as the active oral comparator in Phase 3 clinical trials (such as the MARIO study) evaluating the efficacy and safety of ibrexafungerp for the treatment of invasive candidiasis and candidemia.
