Overview
FLAG-VIPR is an intensive hybrid chemotherapy regimen used primarily for the treatment of Mixed Phenotype Acute Leukemia (MPAL). It combines the FLAG backbone (Fludarabine, Cytarabine, and G-CSF) typically used in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) with components of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) directed therapy, including Vincristine, Idarubicin, Prednisone, and the anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody Rituximab. This regimen aims to address the dual-lineage nature of MPAL blasts by incorporating agents effective against both myeloid and lymphoid malignancies. The G-CSF (filgrastim) component is used both to prime leukemia blasts for increased sensitivity to cytarabine and to accelerate neutrophil recovery following intensive chemotherapy.
