Overview

A reduced-intensity conditioning (RIC) regimen consisting of the purine analog fludarabine, the alkylating agent busulfan, and the T-cell depleting polyclonal antibody Thymoglobulin (anti-thymocyte globulin). Developed by the University Hospital, Clermont-Ferrand, this combination is used as a preparatory therapy for pediatric patients with refractory hematologic neoplasms or solid tumors undergoing allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). The regimen is designed to facilitate donor cell engraftment through immunosuppression and myelosuppression while reducing the high toxicity profile associated with standard myeloablative conditioning protocols.
