This specific formulation is being investigated for the treatment of hypergranulation (over-granulation) at peritoneal dialysis catheter exit sites, where it aims to reduce excessive tissue growth and inflammation. The drug functions as a glucocorticoid receptor agonist, modulating gene transcription to inhibit the release of inflammatory cytokines and stabilize lysosomal membranes.
