Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Flufenoxuron is a benzoylurea insecticide that acts as a chitin synthesis inhibitor. It disrupts the formation of chitin, an essential component of the exoskeleton in insects and mites, thereby inhibiting molting and egg hatching. This leads to impaired development and death in target pest species. It is primarily used for agricultural pest control and as an acaricide for mite management[4][5][7]. Flufenoxuron has low water solubility, is non-flammable, and exhibits low toxicity to humans but can bioaccumulate in aquatic organisms such as fish[4]. Its primary mechanism involves inhibition of chitin synthase enzymes required for exoskeletal development.
