Flumetasone pivalate + clioquinol is a fixed-dose ear drop combination of a synthetic difluorinated glucocorticoid (flumetasone pivalate) and a halogenated hydroxyquinoline derivative (clioquinol). Flumetasone pivalate acts as a potent topical anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, and vasoconstrictive corticosteroid, providing rapid relief of inflammatory symptoms such as pruritus, redness, and swelling. Clioquinol exhibits broad-spectrum antibacterial and antifungal (antimycotic) activity, especially against common otitis externa pathogens including Gram-positive bacteria (notably Staphylococci), certain Gram-negative bacteria, and dermatophyte and yeast fungi (such as Candida, Microsporum, Trichophyton). This combination is indicated for the treatment of otitis externa, otomycosis, and eczema of the external auditory canal with suspected or confirmed secondary infection[1][4][5][7][9]. The medication is applied directly into the external ear canal and is not recommended for children under 2 years.
