Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Synalar Otic** is a fixed-dose otic anti-inflammatory and antibacterial combination containing fluocinolone acetonide, neomycin sulfate, and polymyxin B sulfate. Fluocinolone acetonide is a synthetic corticosteroid that activates glucocorticoid receptor signaling to reduce local inflammation, pruritus, and edema; neomycin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis through the bacterial 30S ribosomal subunit; and polymyxin B disrupts susceptible Gram-negative bacterial outer membranes through interaction with lipopolysaccharide. The product is used for otitis externa and steroid-responsive inflammatory conditions of the ear when bacterial infection is present or suspected. Euro-Med Laboratories lists Synalar Ortic among its commercial products, while public drug references identify Synalar Otic as the fluocinolone acetonide, neomycin sulfate, and polymyxin B sulfate otic combination.
