Fluor Protector

Fluor Protector is a professionally applied dental fluoride varnish designed to prevent dental caries and protect against enamel demineralization and erosion. Its active ingredient is difluorosilane, present at 0.9–1% in a polyurethane-based varnish with ethyl acetate and isoamylpropionate as solvents. The product delivers fluoride (0.1% or 1000 ppm in solution) directly to the tooth surface, where solvent evaporation increases local fluoride concentration, enhancing remineralization and resistance to acid attack[1]. The low-viscosity formulation allows for easy application even on proximal surfaces, forming a clear film that adheres well to enamel[1][3]. It is suitable for all age groups and typically applied twice yearly by dental professionals[1][9]. Developed originally in 1975 by Arends and Schuthof, it has been reformulated over time for safety while maintaining efficacy[1].
