Drug intelligence / Profile preview
UpTru is developing an oral formulation of fluorescein disodium as a diagnostic agent for urine specimen authentication and the detection of sample tampering in drug testing. The technology involves the oral administration of the fluorophore, which is subsequently absorbed and excreted in the urine. The presence of the fluorescent marker in the urine specimen is then verified using optical point-of-care methodology, ensuring that the sample was provided by the donor and has not been substituted or falsified. This product is primarily intended for use in addiction medicine and workplace drug testing settings to improve the clinical utility and integrity of urine drug testing. It is currently in Phase 3 clinical development under the ATTESTED trial (NCT07356349).
