Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This fluoride-free (0 ppm F) dentifrice formulation was developed by Procter & Gamble for use as a negative control or placebo in clinical trials. It is specifically utilized in studies evaluating the salivary clearance, pharmacokinetics, and efficacy of fluoride-containing oral care products, such as those containing sodium monofluorophosphate (MFP), for the prevention of dental caries. By providing a baseline of zero fluoride, it allows researchers to accurately measure the incremental increase and subsequent clearance of fluoride in the oral cavity following the application of therapeutic dentifrices. As a placebo, it lacks the active mineralizing agents required for the prevention of tooth decay.
