Fluorine-18 fexinidazole injection (also known as Fluorine[18F] Fibrosuppressin Injection or LNC1007) is a radiopharmaceutical diagnostic imaging agent developed by Yantai Dongcheng Pharmaceutical Group and its subsidiary, LNC Pharma. It is a small-molecule radiotracer labeled with the positron-emitting isotope fluorine-18 (18F) designed to target fibroblast activation protein (FAP). FAP is a cell-surface serine protease that is highly overexpressed in the tumor microenvironment, particularly in cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) of various solid tumors, while remaining minimally expressed in normal adult tissues. By binding specifically to FAP, this agent enables the non-invasive visualization and characterization of the tumor stroma using positron emission tomography (PET) imaging. This imaging modality is intended to improve the detection, staging, and treatment monitoring of FAP-positive solid tumors. The agent is currently undergoing Phase 2 clinical trials in China.
