NMK02 is a fluorine-18 labeled radiopharmaceutical diagnostic imaging agent developed by Nihon Medi-Physics for the detection and staging of prostate cancer. It consists of the small molecule ligand PSMA-1007, which has high affinity for the prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA), a cell-surface protein significantly overexpressed in prostate adenocarcinoma. Upon intravenous administration, NMK02 binds to PSMA-expressing cells, allowing for high-resolution visualization of primary tumors and metastatic lesions via positron emission tomography (PET). A distinguishing feature of NMK02 (PSMA-1007) is its predominantly hepatobiliary excretion, which minimizes urinary tract interference and potentially improves the detection of local recurrences in the prostate bed compared to other PSMA-targeted tracers. The agent was licensed by Nihon Medi-Physics from ABX GmbH for development in the Japanese market.
