Overview

BAY1075553 (fluorine F 18 2-PMPA) is a radiolabeled small molecule PET imaging agent developed for the detection of prostate cancer. It acts as an inhibitor of prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA), a cell surface protein highly expressed in prostate cancer cells. The compound is labeled with fluorine-18 and used as a tracer in positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) to visualize PSMA-expressing tumors. Preclinical and phase I clinical studies have shown that BAY1075553 accumulates in PSMA-positive tissues and is generally safe and well tolerated. However, its diagnostic performance may be limited by early renal excretion and non-specific uptake in degenerative bone lesions[1][5][7].
