Overview
Fluorine F 18 ara-G is a radiolabeled analog of arabinosyl guanine (ara-G) used as a positron emission tomography (PET) imaging agent. It is designed to noninvasively image and quantify CD8+ T cell activity within tumors and other tissues. The mechanism of action involves selective uptake and retention by activated T lymphocytes, particularly CD8+ cytotoxic T cells, which are key mediators of anti-tumor immune responses. This property allows Fluorine F 18 ara-G PET imaging to serve as a biomarker for monitoring immune activation in cancer patients undergoing immunotherapy, potentially predicting therapeutic efficacy and guiding treatment decisions[1][4].
