Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Fluorodopa (F-DOPA) is a non-radioactive, fluorine-containing dopaminergic agent being investigated as a promising Fluorine-19 (19F) MRI probe. It is used to evaluate presynaptic dopaminergic function in the striatum, particularly for the early diagnosis of Parkinson's disease by detecting the loss of dopaminergic neurons. Studies in a 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA)-induced hemiparkinsonian rat model showed that F-DOPA induced rotational behavior and accumulated significantly in the ipsilateral striatum after injection.
