Overview

Flurodrops-T is a fixed-dose combination ophthalmic suspension containing the corticosteroid fluorometholone and the aminoglycoside antibiotic tobramycin. Marketed by Austrak, it is indicated for the treatment of steroid-responsive inflammatory ocular conditions where a bacterial infection or a risk of bacterial ocular infection exists. Fluorometholone acts as a glucocorticoid receptor agonist to suppress the inflammatory response to various inciting agents, thereby reducing redness, swelling, and itching. Tobramycin provides broad-spectrum bactericidal activity against common ocular pathogens by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis through binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit. This combination is typically used to manage conditions such as conjunctivitis, keratitis, and anterior uveitis when complicated by or at risk of bacterial infection.
